Leadership

Head Pastor
Jeff- God placed the dream to start Cloudbreak Church in my heart in 2001. It was a surprise, because during my twenties I
didn’t even go to church. I always said I was a Christian, but it made no difference in my life because I put everything else first.
I was working in the apparel business and our family was living in Puebla, Mexico. We thought life was pretty good. Yet, we knew there was
more to life, and were excited to begin the adventure God had in store. We moved back to the States, where I finished a Masters of Divinity in Church
Planting from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. By the way, Shelly and I met when we were twelve years old and she is the love of
my life. We are both Southern California natives and have two kids (Ally - 11 and Jack - 9).
Shelly has a teaching background and attended UC Santa Barbara. I graduated from University of Georgia with a degree in International Business. After finishing seminary, God called us to San Diego to start Cloudbreak. We have seen God working in amazing ways as the people of Cloudbreak serve our community, and provide a safe place for those with questions about faith to explore what Jesus has to say. Shelly and I are both active people who enjoy making new friends. We think God made this big world so we could go see it. I love to surf and can’t get enough college football. We enjoy lots of family outings with the people of Cloudbreak, and can’t wait to meet your family. When God called us to serve Cloudbreak, I was reading in the book of Colossians in the New Testament. I want to share the verse with you that means so much to me: Colossians 3:1-4 (NASB)
- Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
- Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth.
- For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
- When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.
Worship Leader Bri- Hi! My name is Brianna, but after you have known me for more than a few minutes you will hear that most people call me Bri. I grew up here in San Diego, spent a short season in Ohio for school, but came right back – nothing compares with wearing flip-flops in January.
Although I love music and ability it has to draw people into the presence of God in such a unique and powerful way, I know it is not the only area where I see God anointing my steps.
There are two other areas where I spend most of my time, the first of which is the Deaf community. I will graduate this semester (so great!) with my major in Interpreting for American Sign Language. I love spending time with the Deaf community and seeing how a different culture approaches life.
The third major passion I have – although I have quite the variety of interests – is younger women. I long to see a generation of girls be set free and understand how much worth they have in Christ. Pretty much everything I love revolves around Jesus and laughing in one way or another… except maybe burritos. Those are good all on their own. :o) Church Administrator Jackie- I graduated from UCSD with a degree in bioengineering and worked in the medical device industry for several years. In 1999, I felt God calling me to help start a pregnancy resource center to bring hope and love to women in crisis pregnancies.
In 2000, Turning Point Pregnancy Resource Center opened its doors, and I have been very involved with this ministry ever since. I am also very busy as a mother of three sons.
I don’t like the term “stay-at-home mom” because I never seem to be at home. When I’m not working at home on the computer, I am driving carpools, watching baseball or soccer games, volunteering in the classrooms, working at a band event or grocery shopping. My favorite thing about living in 4S Ranch is seeing familiar faces wherever I go. Youth Pastor Kris - I've been fortunate to grow up here in San Diego since the age of 10. I've always accepted God in my life yet there were times when I did not fully understand His purpose. It took a crazy set of circumstances for God to reveal my calling to work with youth. The power of Jesus Christ is often overlooked.and in my case I don't believe in coincidences anymore!
My wife, Christy, means the world to me. We met during high school (Mt Carmel) over 25 years ago and have been married almost 18 years. We have a 15 year old son (Christopher) and 12 year old daughter (Stephanie). Christy works as an associate director at a biotech company and uses her wisdom and management skills constantly.
She absolutely loves youth and is my better half that makes serving together an extreme pleasure and way of life.
Besides being in youth ministry for the last 7 years I also teach in Poway Unified as a substitute teacher. I've taught at every middle and high school in the district and have been known to even teach in elementary schools despite my fear of their energy!
I grew up taking things apart (putting them back together is another story) and enjoy being creative, especially with anything that has an engine. Volleyball, surfing, rock climbing, music, technology, riding motox, teaching, video games, and reading the bible keeps me smiling.
My vision for youth ministry is to grow students to own their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, discover their talents, and feel loved in a family atmosphere. It is a blessing to be a part of Cloudbreak Church!
Children's Coordinator
Jill-
I was lucky enough to move to the San Diego area over a decade ago, when my husband’s work
transferred us here from Chicago. Though we lived in Chicago for several years, both my husband and
I are from the Philadelphia area.
I’m originally a classically trained singer, but feel like
I found yet another calling when I became a wife and mom. Working with children and helping them
learn about God is incredibly fulfilling. What could be more important?
